What we believe

Quality comes first.

Our approach to food begins with care—in our kitchen, at your table and in the communities where we live and serve.

HAYAN · TASTE OF THE WORLD

What We Inherited

WE DID NOT INVENT FOOD. WE INHERITED IT.

Long before Hayan existed, people across the world were learning how to grow, preserve, season and cook food.

They discovered ingredients, spices and techniques. They cooked for their families, their communities and the strangers who came through their doors.

They learned from those before them, added something of their own, and passed that knowledge to the next generation.

Even something as simple as the salt and pepper on our tables today carries a story far longer than any one of our lives.

At Hayan, we have dishes that carry our own signature. We combine what we have learned with our experience, memories, ingredients and the character of Hayan.

But we never want to forget that the foundations of what we do were built by countless people and cultures over generations.

No person can discover everything in a single lifetime.

We receive knowledge from those who came before us. We care for it, learn from it, add our small contribution — and pass it forward.

FOOD HAS ALWAYS TRAVELLED

Our love for different cultures also comes from a simple belief:

Food has never truly remained inside borders.

Long before airplanes and modern tourism, people travelled.

Traders crossed seas and mountains. Families migrated. Sailors entered unfamiliar ports. Travellers sat at tables far from home.

Someone tasted something they had never tasted before.

Someone watched another person cook in a different way.

Someone discovered a spice, an ingredient or a technique, remembered it, and carried that knowledge home.

But when it arrived home, it did not always remain exactly the same.

People adapted it to their local ingredients, climate, customs and tastes.

The next generation changed it a little more.

Sometimes its journey continued to another land again.

Over hundreds and thousands of years, those journeys became intertwined with what we now call our food cultures.

That is one reason Hayan loves the cuisines and cultures of different peoples around the world.

We do not see the world as completely isolated kitchens.

We see an extraordinary human journey — people travelling, meeting, sharing, learning, adapting, creating and passing knowledge to one another.

Of course, origins still matter.

The communities and cultures that developed, preserved and passed down these traditions deserve recognition and respect.

Understanding that food travelled across different lands does not mean erasing where something began.

Quite the opposite.

It makes us even more curious about, and grateful for, the people, cultures and history behind what we eat.

Perhaps somewhere, hundreds of years ago, a traveller returned home excited and said:

“You have to taste what I discovered.”

Someone cooked it.

Someone else learned it.

Another generation carried it farther.

And eventually, a tiny part of that enormous human journey reached the kitchen at Hayan.

WHY THIS MATTERS TO US

As a father, this has a very personal meaning for me.

The knowledge handed down by generations before us allows me to do work I love.

It has helped me build Hayan, earn a living, and care for my family, my team and their families.

So when Hayan serves a plate of food, there are more people behind that plate than just us.

There are farmers, cooks, families, traders, sailors, travellers, communities and cultures that came before us.

There are people who spent their lives learning something, improving it, and leaving that knowledge behind for people they might never meet.

For that, we are grateful.

And someday, we hope that something Hayan learns during our own journey will also be worth passing to the generation that follows us.

Hayan is only a small part of a very long human story.

We inherit. We learn. We respect where things came from. We add our small contribution. And we pass it forward.

That is our “Taste of the World.”

At the heart of Hayan

Give it good.

My parents used to tell me, “If you give something to others, give it good.”

Those simple words have stayed with me. Give something you are proud to share. Prepare it with care. Treat the person receiving it with kindness and respect.

HAYAN

Quality comes first. Hospitality runs in our veins, and striving for excellence beats in our hearts.

The spirit of a home kitchen

We prepare healthy, quality and tasty cuisine with the care of a home kitchen. We work thoughtfully and efficiently, so that every meal reflects the attention it deserves.

Ingredients chosen with care

We seek fresh local ingredients, organic produce where available, and the best available imported products when a dish calls for them. Quality guides what we bring into our kitchen.

A world of cuisine, a sense of belonging

We want every person who walks through our doors to experience a world of cuisine within Hayan’s walls—and to carry that spirit into every community where we live and serve. Hospitality means welcoming people, sharing cultures and bringing a community together.
